Museo de Baler is the official municipal museum of Baler, Aurora. It preserves and showcases the rich cultural heritage, natural history, and significant historical events of Baler and the surrounding Aurora Province.
The museum houses artifacts, dioramas, and exhibits spanning the pre-colonial era, the Spanish colonial period, the Philippine Revolution, and the modern history of Aurora Province — including the birthplace of President Manuel L. Quezon.
Museo de Baler is operated by the Municipality of Baler, Aurora. When you use this app we collect some information about you, and under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) we are the Personal Information Controller responsible for it.
This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it plainly rather than legally.
When you register — your first, middle and last name, age, sex, and email address. Your password is stored only as a scrambled (hashed) value; nobody at the museum can read it, including us.
Where you are visiting from — your barangay, city or municipality, province and country, and whether you are a local resident, a domestic tourist, or a foreign visitor. This is what the free-admission rule for residents depends on.
Your visit — whether you came alone, with a family, with a group or with a school; the admission fee due and whether it was paid; any admission discount you claimed, such as for senior citizens or persons with disability, and only its name — not your condition or ID number; and, for residents and anyone admitted free on a discount, that a staff member sighted a valid ID. We record that the ID was checked, not a copy of it.
What you do in the app — which exhibits you scan, what you bookmark, your chosen explore mode and language.
Your location, only at check-in — when you check in on arrival, the app reads your coordinates and their accuracy to confirm you are actually at the museum. We do not track your location at any other time, and we do not follow you after you leave.
Feedback you choose to send — your rating and comments, including the client satisfaction survey.
Authorised Museo de Baler staff and the Municipal Tourism Office, for the purposes above. Nobody else.
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with any outside company for marketing. We will only disclose it where the law requires us to.
Visitor records form part of the museum's official records and are kept for as long as the Municipality's records retention rules require. You may ask us to delete your account at any time — see your rights below. Deleting your account does not remove anonymous visit counts already included in past statistical reports, because those no longer identify you.
Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored hashed, never in readable form. Access to visitor records requires a staff account, and what staff do with those records is written to an audit log. Sign-in sessions expire automatically.
No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal information we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, speak to staff at the entrance desk or contact us using the details below. We will respond within the period set by law.
Children usually visit with a school or with their family, and in those cases the school or the accompanying parent or guardian registers the party at the desk. If you are under 18 and registering on your own, please ask a parent, guardian or teacher first.
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions about your information, or to exercise any right above:
These terms cover your use of the Museo de Baler visitor app, operated by the Municipality of Baler, Aurora. By creating an account and using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, you are still very welcome at the museum — just visit without the app.
A companion guide for your visit. It lets you scan an exhibit's QR code or point your camera at it to pull up its story, listen to narration, follow a suggested route through the halls, bookmark what you liked, and find your way on the museum map.
It is a guide, not a ticket. Your admission is settled at the entrance desk.
Please do not:
Accounts used this way may be suspended, and the museum may refuse entry.
The exhibit descriptions, photographs, audio narration and maps in this app belong to Museo de Baler and the Municipality of Baler, or are used with permission. They are here for your personal, educational use during your visit.
You are welcome to quote or reference them for study, research or schoolwork with credit to the museum. Reproducing them commercially, or republishing them as your own, needs the museum's written permission first.
The app is provided as-is and free of charge. It may be unavailable during maintenance, and features that need a camera, location or an internet connection depend on your own device and signal.
We work to keep exhibit information accurate and may correct or update it at any time. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — the Send Feedback option in Settings reaches the curators.
We may update these terms as the museum's services change. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the app afterwards means you accept the update.
